People in their Element

One of the best ways to create a compelling image of an individual is to put them in their element. When you have a shoot whether it is with a client, family member, co-worker, or a friend try to look at their hobbies and other interests. If you can find a way to incorporate them into an image then the result will likely be exactly what they are looking for and it will tell a story. If the image or series of images is captured well, anyone looking at it can really tell something about that individual.

This works because when someone is put into their element they loosen up because there is a sense of confidence. They no longer feel as if they are a subject but rather part of a scene. They are doing what they love to do and it will show in the resulting images.
